Newspapers

Discover One of Our Most Valuable Research Resources!

One of The Palisade Historical Society’s important projects has been the preservation and digitization of The Palisade Tribune, our newspaper of record from June 6, 1903 until it ceased publishing in March 2014. We are in the process of having all of these issues added to the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection database.

This database is free to use, and it has proven to be invaluable in our research projects!

There are currently 4,154 issues, including all issues in our archives from 1903 to December 1986, and we are continuing to fundraise to get as many of the remaining issues digitized and added to the database as possible.

Some Quick Tips for Better Searching:

  • Create an account at CHNC. It’s free and allows you to access helpful features.
  • Sort by “Date – oldest first” rather than “Best match first” to get even more results.
  • Be mindful of misspellings. Try searching for various spellings, even if they’re “wrong.”
  • Broaden your date range or search in papers of the surrounding areas for clues.
  • Good luck & enjoy!
